Joey Landreth & Kirk Fletcher Take Over TPS!

August 31, 2018

The fantastic Joey Landreth and Kirk Fletcher just happened to be in our locale on the same day...

This is audio from our YouTube video here: https://youtu.be/WspUxDSoDu0

Joey was getting ready for his September 2018 UK tour and Kirk is preparing to release a new album on October 19 called Hold On. So we sat them on the stools, turned on the cameras and asked them to do what comes naturally.

MASSIVE thanks to them both for such a wonderful day and enough inspiration to last a lifetime - these guys are simply tremendous humans.

Colorsound Power Boost-Type Pedals & Hiwatt Custom 100 DR103

August 24, 2018

Today’s show was one of those once-in-a-lifetime lightbulb moments. It aired on YouTube as a video: https://youtu.be/KKvFcPc8v-4

Dan had long been telling me about ‘Power Boost’ pedals... but having never sat down and plugged one in properly, I was none the wiser. A total blank spot of guitar history. We would do a show. One day.

It wasn’t until Dan did an eight-hour round-trip drive to pick up an original 1972 Hiwatt Custom 100 DR103 and a bunch of Colorsound Power Boost-inspired pedals – including an original – that the penny was able to drop. And boy did it drop, for him as much as me.
These are genuinely some of the most inspiring, most moving, most thoroughly rock’n’roll sounds we’ve ever mustered from these four walls.

Massive thanks to Chris at www.custompedalboards.co.uk for the loan of the pedals and of course the unbelievable Hiwatt. The morning after filming, we hit Reverb.com and bought one. Life seems unthinkable without one at this point.

Please enjoy the episode…

Origin Effects Revival Drive – What Do We Think?

August 17, 2018

Well well well. When somebody brings out an overdrive pedal that isn’t an overdrive pedal… //doesn’t// call it an amp in a box when it’s probably the best one we’ve heard to date… //and// charges a pretty penny to behold its charms, you can expect us to sit up.

This is the audio from our video of 17 Aug 2018 that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/y9aZ83_RVjE

So yes it’s complex.Yes it is amp like. And yes it’s an overdrive pedal for people whoo don’t like overdrive pedals. But is it the hands-down, bottom-up no-brainer purchase that we should all make?
Nope. This puppy is dividing opinion good and proper.
So what about us?

Chris Buck Visits TPS

August 10, 2018

We are delighted to welcome the super talented, humorous and humble Chris Buck to the show.

This is the audioo from the YouTube show 10 Aug 2018: https://youtu.be/e6_54fhe9qw

Chris is a wonderful guitar player from South Wales, UK, whose #1 music project is his band, Buck & Evans. http://www.buckandevans.com/
Chris takes us through his pedalboard that’s most notable for the sheer number of similar-ish overdrives on there! We get an insight into his playing style and technique not to mention a cheeky little Strat/Strat/Strat/Silver Sky comparison.
Massive thanks to Chris for taking the time to come and hang at Schwangri-La. Please check him out on all the usual social meedja!
